It looks like my son's Beige G3/300 might have bit the big one. He was booted in OS 9 and powered it off normally. When he went to turn it back on, the G3 bonged, the monitor turned on and then went into standby. The OS 9 drive would not spin up. The OS X drive was spinning fine but it wouldn't boot.
He has also tried booting off the OS X install CD and the 9.2.2 CD with no luck. The G3 bongs normally like it should but the monitor always goes into standby and nothing else happens.
