Looks mostly like contrast or gamma and saturation.  Images in X are darker and
more intense.  Images in 9 look more "right" to me.  

The "expert" monitor setup procedures are similar enough in both os to expect
similar results.  You can't, as far as I know, take monitor profiles from 9 and
plug them into X.

Even when using Photoshop in Classic mode, when you set it to control the
monitor colors using a 9 profile, it looks different from when you boot in 9.
