You never know if anyone has answered someone's question or not, so here goes.

I too have a G3 Lombard and a BookEndz docking station. I don't know anything about the HP870 printer. Can it be connected via SCSI? Mac printers are usually Mac Serial or USB. If your printer is a Parallel port variety, you might want to look at getting a Parallel to USB cable.

But, before investing in a cable, verify that there are printer drivers for your printer for the Mac. This is especially important if you plan to use OSX.
