Marahab Mohamad and thanks too to Nancy for the both of you jumping into 
the breach and helping me solve this problem. I did indeed find the loose 
clip and bought some thermal grease to re-attach the heatsink. I had 
never heard of thermal paste before nor was there any residue on the CPU 
or heat sink. All's well that ends well.

Where would I be without this wonderful list and the generosity of you 
all?
