My G4 MDD won't wake up after I put it to sleep in the Apple menu, it
restarts when I click Shut Down in the Apple Menu and the only way to get it
to boot from the power button is to unplug the monitor. When I do this, it
starts when I re-connect the monitor DVI to VGA adapter. The monitor is a
Sony SDM-M51D. Apple Care said it may be the logic board and Sony didn't
have a clue. My local Apple service provider said the monitor is
incompatible with the G4 because it has it's own power supply. Apple
Article ID 61697 was no help as I'm running 10.2.6, which is what they said
needed to be installed to make monitors work on the MDD with a ATI Radeon
9000 Pro graphics card. I'm not keen on buying a new Apple studio or cinema
due to cost, needing an additional adapter and the 1 year warranty. Can
anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
