Hi Gang,
Michael, this sounds so-o-o familiar; I went round and round with this
issue, but I finally got it to work on my beige G3.
You have a DVD drive (I presume) and the ATI Radeon 7000;
now go to
http://www.os9forever.com/DVDPlayer.html
and obtain the patch to Apple DVD Player 2.9 (or obtain the pre-hacked
version of 2.7). Follow the instructions at the website; the patch fixes the
application, but NOT the installer, so yes, the installer will tell you that
the B+W is the wrong machine (all G3s are the wrong machine - only Apple and
God know what the RIGHT machines are!!). You have to yank the pieces (inc.
the actual app.) out with TomeViewer and place them in your HD directory -
then run the patch which blesses it for your G3.
My issue - finally solved- be sure all the appropriate extensions needed for
your ATI card are in the extensions folder before you launch the DVD player,
or else you'll get a "can't work on this machine"-type error message.
I was using an OEM ATI Rage 128, and I still needed to run ATI's retail
installer to awaken the card.

Best regards,
Dana
