I have the Apple 9.4GB DVD-RAM drive installed in my B/W G3. It won't format or mount pre-formatted RAM discs in OS 9.1, but it does in OS X 10.2. It will mount CDs and DVDs in OS 9.1, but music CDs will only play the right side, and not the left. But in OS X 10.2 everything works fine. I know it's not a hardware problem, cause I can rip the track and it'll then play just fine in QT. Is this an OS 9 software problem? I've browsed Apple's web site with no success... Also, this is an Apple romed DVD drive, so I thought it should boot from OS CDs, but it won't. Doesn't matter what OS, I'll have to physically remove the drive, install my CDRW, and then my Mac will boot up. Otherwise, it'll just sit there with a white screen. Any reason for this? I know it was installed with the Gigabyte Ethernet G4, so someone suggested that it may be a ROM problem...
