Apple basically said Mac OS X would be fully functional on *ALL* Macs, G3 and later. But it turns out that a number of standard OS X features don't work on older G3s

because Apple never bothered to write/provide certain drivers. Furthermore, OS X is abysmally slow and unstable on those machines.
False, and not related to the case action suit.
These problems were never fixed, and Apple refused to give refunds.
False, some were actually solved but not all were, true Apple did not offer any refunds.
Under the terms of the class action settlement, Apple now has to cough refunds.

But as is typical in corporate america, they don't have to admit to any wrong doing or provide fixes.
False, Apple's official statement about the refunds states that the refund is due to the class action suit which was filed because Mac OS X did not provide feature parity among Beige G3s and later supported Macs, so in effect Apple does admit that it doesn't work as reported to.

The catch, I believe, is that it only covers customers that bought Mac OS X at full retail, in California. The rest of us stay screwed.
That is based on who filed the suit, if you don't take part, then well, you don't take part. Its kinda like the story of the little red hen, you don't want to bake the bread then you don't get to share it.
