Bruce, Thank you for the bus explanation. If *everything* pumps through the data bus, I suppose there could be bottlenecks.
My memory (the 256 MB that I have) is PC100, I've sold all of the PC66 memory. Then what do I do? Parting this thing out isn't going to garner me much. Could I not adjust the jumpers and run the bus at 83 Mhz? Keep the processor at its rated speed, but just speed up the bus. The memory should keep up, the PCI data paths are still at 33.3 Mhz, and so on... Aw crap, I don't know. Maybe I ought to buy a CoreCrib case/MB/PS, get a 32 MB or larger AGP card, a 1 Gig G4, still get the SIIG card and go forward. That's going to cost me about $800-$900, and I wasn't looking to spend that much... What are 500 Mhz G4's going for on the open market? Thank you all for your input.
