A family member is using a 7200 series with AOL 3.0 or so for internet access; I've got an 8500 w/ G3 here that I'd like to mail him.
Having tried to troubleshoot computers over the phone, and needing to tell him which and how to move his files from the one Mac to the other, I'm thinking that it would be easier to have him hook them together, then dial up and let me move thing around.
However, I've used the VNC Mac server before and it was pretty horrible (about 6 months ago). AppleshareIP to OS 9 on the 8500G3 perhaps, but then would I see the ethertalk or localtal from the 8500 to the 7200? And I'm not sure what ports AOL lets be open either. , but Did Dantz make something similar to the VNC at one time?
I have OS X, OS 9, and Win98 on broadband on my end.
Thanks for thoughts; I might be stuck due to his using AOL? Dial into his # directly then with some client/server app that will let me move thing around?
