Think yours and my situation may be related (we both have Panther). I build web pages concerning Mac OSes and Applications for work so I decided to put a Hitachi 40 GB drive in my G3 450* and partition it four ways. It now has 9.2, 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 on it. My long term goal was to write zeros to the drive, but as an experiment I erased the drive normally and put 9.2 on one part and 10.2 on another. The drive booted fine to 9.2 and 10.2. Then I wrote zeros to it and went to bed. Got up the next morning and repartitioned it again. Installed 9.2 and 10.2 and suddenly OS 9 wouldn't boot! In OS X, the 9 system folder didn't look blessed. I tried the "drag the Finder out of the System Folder and put it back in" to bless it, but it didn't seem to work. I erased the drive and installed 9 again (booted to the 9.2 CD each time) and it still didn't boot. I booted to OS 9.2 that is on my main drive and installed 9.2 from the CD. Then it would boot to that system, although the 9.2 System Folder still did not look blessed in OS X. Still not sure what happened, but thought I'd pass it along.

* Interestingly enough, this drive was in a PC prior to being in my Mac. When I inserted it and booted my Mac it could see the drive and all the files. Disk Utility saw it as a MS-DOS formatted volume. Didn't know that OS 10.2 could see that sort of disk. It is very cool.

One more thing: Since installing Panther, it seems that I
can't boot up from 9.2.2 anymore. The Classic environment
runs just fine when I launch it from the Panther
desktop---but when I select 9.2.2 as my Startup, the thing
refuses to boot properly... Flashing question mark on a
floppy disk. I went back and tried the blessing ritual,
and the OS 9 System Folder LOOKS active, but it still won't
boot up in 9.2.2.... Does it matter that Panther and 9.2.2
are on the same partition? Funny, it never made any
difference to Jaguar.
