I think I found the problem--the only way I could get it to reach from the motherboard to the places where power can reach was to use a very long ribbon cable. I'm pretty certain now the longer cable just doesn't work.

Anyway, I've got it recognizing all 4 devices, but not in any way that I can actually put the machine back together.

Thanks!

Joe

I'm having no end of trouble trying to get this Beige G3 to recognize
both ide buses. It came with a single HD on bus 00 and a CD-ROM drive
(master) and zip drive (slave) on bus 01. All I wanted to do was to
add a slave HD to bus 00.

I've never been able to get it to recognize all 4 devices, and for some
time now I can't get it to see bus 01 at all.

I appreciate any advice.

Joe

Hi Joe,
Are your two HDs set to Master/Slave or Cable Select? Apple busses prefer
the former. Maybe that's the culprit.
Best regards,
Dana
