larry, two options: 1 - you can manually edit the samba (smb) config yourself like this:
turn off windows file sharing in the system prefs. launch up the terminal and type (you'll be asked for your admin password): sudo cp /etc/smb.conf /etc/smb.conf.back to back up your existing samba configuration. then type: sudo pico -w /etc/smb.conf to open up the configuration in the pico text editor. then type this block at the bottom of the file: ; share for all mounted volumes path = /Volumes browseable = yes public = no read only = no type Ctrl+X to exit pico, typing y to save and then enter when to confirm the filename. now fire up windows file sharing and you should be laughing! this is cool if you want to share all the drives on your machine with windows users. 2 - this method is great if you only want to share specific folders or drives. the software is called sharepoints: http://hornware.com/sharepoints/ its really easy to use and, as far as i can see, pretty much gives you a front end with all the options to create the text for option 1. hope this helps! cheers, jake > Subject: Sharing a Mac Volume to a PC??? > > > OK, I can turn windows sharing on and a pc can see MY user folder > larry. That works fine. But I also want the pc to see a partition > that is in the Volumes folder called store.
