Beige G3 has a physical ROM. iMac requires a MacOS ROM file on the HD. Installing any system on a beige won't add the Mac OS ROM file......

I just picked up an iMac with out a CD Drive. It has a 4 gig hard drive
in it, but the hard drive was blank (no system on it), so I put it into
my beige G3 and put a system on it.
I than put the hard drive back in to the iMac, but it does not reconize
the drive. I removed the battery for a while to see if that helps. Does
any one have any other ideas? I am also looking for a keyboard and CD
drive.

This was a good call!
If Ted still doesn't have a CD unit, and wishes to proceed, perhaps using the program "MachID Wannabe" you could fool the Beige into running the iMac Firmware update program and install the ROM on the HD? Since the Beige doesn't have flash ROM, it can't hurt the Beige, just remember to switch it back to the Beige MachID # or zap the PRAM-NVRAM. Here's a link to MachID Wannabe to make the Beige appear as in iMac:

Otherwise, someone would need to send him the ROM file for a similar model iMac, or perhaps he could find a copy posted somewhere? I believe you run into this problem if you're trying to run Linux on an iMac, so perhaps the PPC Linux sites would have copies of the ROM file posted? Kris
