The only thing I can think would be that the CD's you're trying to boot from are damaged. Can you
1) Boot from those CD's on another machine? 2) Boot from other CD's on your machine? It sounds like the answer to 2) is yes which makes me suspect that the CD's are probably at fault. I bought some dirt cheap CD-R's one time and after about 2 months, I started having trouble with them not mounting, not booting like you said. They aren't scratched or anything they just aren't working. If your DiskWarrior and Jaguar CDs are actual retail disks I would look into getting replacements as it is possible that these CD's are no good. Try them on another machine to confirm. It sounds like you've done all the right troubleshooting to narrow it down to this, as a possibility anyway.
