Okay Listers,

I've read extensivily on xl8r, and asked a few questions on the list
regarding my OEM LTR-40125S CDRW Drive.
So far the only way I can get the system to boot is to set the drive a
master and boot from a cd. If I don't have a cd in the drive the system
hangs on startup with just the grey screen and frozen mouse pointer.

Beige, B&W? Rom rev? OS?

I'm not sure, but ISTR that that's the one I have in my beige G3 and it worked perfectly right off the bat.

You might want to look for a firmware update....you'll have to put it back in your wife's system to update it, but that's all I can think of.

The Lite-on site itself has the upgrades: <http://www.liteonit.com.tw/ODD/>
