Both on eBay and here in the BB lists, I've seen "version" 1-3 and

Revs. 1A, 2B and 3C are ex-factory versions (see below for user-implemented
"versions").

Revs. 1B, 1C, 2C, and 3A are known to work. The other possibilities have not
been subjected to rigorous testing, but these probably work, too.

A Rev. 1 mobo has a Rage II video chip. Always a Rev. A ROM.

A Rev. 2 or Rev. 3 mobo has a Rage Pro PCI video chip. The Rev. B ROM goes
with the Rev. 2 mobo; the Rev. C ROM goes with the Rev. 3 mobo.

The Rev. C ROM corrects certain flaws in the Rev. B ROM support for the video
chip. Otherwise, the Rev. B ROM is actually more compatible than the Rev. C
ROM.

(The Rev. A ROM lacks EIDE Slave support).

A Rev. 2B mobo may be identified by the mobo's part number, 820-0991-A, and
the chips part mumbers on the ROM SIMM, 341S0455 and 341S0456.

Most Rev. 2B mobos are found in 266 MHz DTs.

The 300 MHz and faster machines were Rev. 3Cs, and these mobos were found in
MTs.
