For the record, I was not as stupid as I first thought. The CD player did not exist on my machine. I searched high and low and it was no place to be found. No matter, I got done what I needed to do. On to my next question, I successfully installed DoubleTalk so I was able to read/write to my Windows file server drives. I copied everything from the only HD in my Mac over to a folder there for a backup. From what I've seen of the Mac OS, it should be possible to put those files on a CD and boot directly from the CD, correct? Since I'll be using a Windows program to create the CD, is there any special settings I should use to create the CD? I want this CD in case something happens when I replace the small 3.2 Gb HD in the Mac with something substantially larger. BTW, yesterday I took it apart, piece by piece and cleaned everything. When I put it all back together it worked the first time! I was truly amazed...
