Sadly, the information is inaccurate.

An ATX power supply can directly power a Beige mobo without the 
modifications described.

Also sadly, the mechanical modifications miss the whole point ... the 
Beige case is simply a 8600/9600 case, shortened and reduced from six to 
three slots, with an extension for the A-V card, and with a simple sheet 
metal adapter from the ATX power supply to the 8600/9600 case.

You can borrow this adapter from any Beige MT, and thereby make an 
adapter which will adapt any ATX power supply to the 8600/9600 case.

BTW, the mobo power cable from the ATX power supply must be at least 13 
inches long in order to reach the mobo's power connector.

It's your choice whether to use an ATX power supply which has a monitor 
connector, but the power supply *must* be one which supports remote 
power-on. Any ATX power supply which has a manual power-on switch is 
unsuitable for a Beige mobo.
