(there are 5 questions at the bottom)

Well as you guys/gals know, I have been posting questions here for several
weeks, wanting to get my first mac by trading in 3 older ones that I had
acquired. I've been in the Micro$oft world for 15 years now and want to
give the Mac a try. All of my buddy's keep asking me "why?", I told them
that mac people are the most loyal, dedicated, following that I know...there
must be something to it. They still don't understand, but I have always
been open minded and have always appreciated macs, but never have really got
to "use" one, I've been on them occasionally for a few minutes here and
there, but no real use.

Thanks to everyone on here, I have begun to learn the basics of the
different mac models and through all of these questions and answers, finally
decided that what I REALLY wanted was a Digital Audio, but I when I finally
got the money together, there weren't any on ebay and none of the shops I
checked with had any in stock. I had budgeted around $800 for this purchase
figuring that I would probably have to buy some RAM or whatever.

Well yesterday, I stumbled on a QuickSilver 867mhz with 640MB and a 60G hard
drive for $850. After a little thought, I clicked the 'buy it now' button
and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. I figured that was a pretty good
deal. Afterall, a QuickSilver is just a souped up version of a DA right? I
mean they both have the fast bus and all.

I already have a 21" monitor here that I bought in anticipation of getting a
G4 a few weeks ago...guess I should unbox it and see what it looks like.

Anyway, I wanted to share my joy with you guys. When I FINALLY get my mac,
I'm sure I'll have some questions. I have a few now.

#1) I have a US Robotics 802.11g wireless router/firewall/hub (which I
love, much better than the POS SMC Barricade router it replaced). I need a
wireless card for this QS that will work, preferrably an 802.11g. What are
you guys using? I wish USR had one, then I'd get 100Mbs for transferring
files and such back and fourth to the fileserver.

#2) Also, how do I setup this Mac to share files and a printer on my
existing Windows 2000 network (workgroup only, no domain name server)? Do I
need something for both the Mac and the PC's if I want/need to share both
directions? I would only be transferring files to/from the PC's, but the QS
will have a printer attached that they will print to...if I can do that.

#3) Is there a recommended upgrade for the Video Card? Something under
$400? Or would you spend money on adding to the existing 640MB of RAM?

#4) What's the best HTML editor for the Mac? I don't really care if it's
WSIWYG, or not, I prefer to hand code it all anyway. Currently I use
HomeSite on my PC's.

#5) Is there a built-in email program with OSX? If so, does it do IMAP?

Thats all for now, thanks again guys! Can't wait till I get it! If I
really like it, I will be selling/trading all of my current PC's and laptops
for mac versions.

The best way to find free, share, commercial software is to go to both sites and do a search.

http://www.macupdate.com/index.php?os=macosx

http://www.versiontracker.com/index.shtml

This should help you find almost anything.

Even though they may seem the same I have found many things on one of these sites and not on the other. Check both sites.

Welcome to the world of personal computing. Like any relationship there will be ups and downs but overall your new found Mac world will be supportive and helpful. Most of your questions will be obvious as your start looking at the system control panel.

Bruce beat me and answered most of your questions. And as always he was right.

Hope this helps.
