Either one will work fine in a G4 MDD. The 106 is a 4x burner, the 107 is the newer 8x speed technology. Both burn DVD's fine, the only difference is how long they take to do it. Either is plug and play in the MDD. The empty bay is there, the cables are there, Apple even provides the screws to install an additional optical drive stored in the carrier.
