On this topic is there a different model of the Pioneer DVR for PCs and
Macs or does one model work in both?

The hardware doesn't care. The difference is, it's truly plug and play in OS X on the Mac, for the windooze installation there's drivers, dll files, sacrifices in the moonlight involving dead animal parts and incantations. Once you've managed to appease the windooze gods, either will work fine with windooze. <TIC>

(I have a Pioneer 106 on my my W2K box and it works fine)
