I'm new to the list and I want to ask your advice. I'm the owner of a G4 800 iMac and 12" 867 PowerBook and I'm seriously considering buying a second hand Power Mac on eBay to add to my collection. I've never owned a Power Mac and I've just realised how little I know about them. How much of a performance difference is there between the Yosemite and the Yikes or Sawtooth? What are the pitfalls? LEM says "When buying a blue & white G3, insist on getting a Revision 2 system" - what is so bad about the Rev. 1?
I want to use it to take over the job of hosting the (modest) web sites that my iMac presently hosts. This is not just static HTML, it would have to cope with PHP and dynamically resizing images with GD for my online photo gallery.
