I have multiple systems on this computer (thought to be OK by me on later model Macs) ex. OS 10.1.5 & 9.2.2 on 36Gb SCSI. On 1st 80 Gb ATA I have 10.2.8 (no OS 9 on this drive). The 2nd ATA is partitioned into 4 parts (approx. 20Gb ea.) On partition 1 I have OS 10.2.4. on Partition 2 I don't have any OS installed, on partition 3 I have 9.2.2 that I share as "Classic" between 10.2.4 &10.2.8 (partitions 1 on 2nd 80Gb drive, & the other 80 Gb drive). On partition 4 no OS is installed.
My problem comes from when starting to 10.2.8 on the non-partitioned 80Gb drive. The computer will do one of the following:
Freeze
After about 5+ minutes, an announcement will display in the upper left of screen some kind of disk error and then it freezes.
A press and hold of the power button either on the case or on the Studio Display shuts down the computer. It usually takes one or two restarts to get the computer to boot into 10.2.8.
I have Panther on order, so I'd like to figure out what I have to do to correct this before I try and install 10.3 over 10.2.8.
Any suggestions, comments or questions to help zero in on what might be causing my lack of boot up on 10.2.8?
TIA
Kevin
P.S. The computer has Apple Care and their technician warned me about multiple OS's on the same computer. Something about the computer gets confused when it is booting ( no kidding!!!!)
