Folks,

I can't recall what all has been said on the subject, but I know that I, as well as several others had trouble with the 10.2.8 upgrade (but apparently not everyone had problems). The most noticeable problems were the monitor screen going black and permissions corruption.

At first, I had no trouble with OS 10.2.8 on my G4 dual Gig machine. Then somewhere down the line when I would switch back and forth between OS 9.2 and 10 the 10.2.8 would have trouble booting. Apple service claimed that having more than one OS combination on a computer was the reason. I doubt it. I never cured the problem. I installed OS 10.3 yesterday over 10.2.8, and *poof* no more boot problems. I have 10.2.4 and 10.1.5 installed on other internal drives as well. By listening to the posters on these lists you hear about how certain apps work better on certain versions of OS's. So that, plus I like to have a fall back plan is why I keep them around.

Personally, I would say no to 10.2.8 on your iMac, but that is due to my problems with it on my computer. If you can use 10.2.6 then I would say stick with that until you are ready for 10.3.

Just my 2 worth.
