A: I'm not an expert on email server software, but I am an expert on System Administrators. They rarely know squat (except for Mr. Johnson), and their contempt for users is born of the prime directive of all priesthoods, namely, keep the masses believing that all bad things are caused by user ignorance and that only heroic efforts of the Sysadmin keeps the users from totally destroying their computer system--a computer system that would be totally perfect if it were not for users.
In fact your sysadmin, somehow or other got one of his consultants or friends to get the email to work on one computer and then set up the rest just like it. It works, but he doesn't know why. So it is up to you to fix it.
Since Entourage just seems to work OK for most of us, there must be something different with your server. To start out with, call the tech support line of the company that supplies your email server software. See if you can steal the admin manual (if such a thing exists). If that fails, surreptitiously take down the settings of several computers that work right. Then compare those settings with your settings.
Just remember, email is one of the most primitive of all applications on the computer. Don't get frustrated.
