I can never tell when my Mail program will crash. Yep, one day I was happy deleting junk and old messages and the Mail program crashed (while moving messages to the trash when it was uploading messages) and since them its been crashing continuously. The crashes have caused my messages in the incoming and outgoing folders to corrupt (crazy characters) and deleting them its only asking for more crashes, where should I start to fix this problem? I am using it now, and I am terrified to open some of the mailboxes (selecting the incoming mailbox seems to be fine and the outgoing too, anything beyond that might crash it!) it lets me read some messages though. I haven't checked the mailboxes with archived messages because I am afraid that doing so will crash it and eventually corrupt them too. Since all busy mailboxes seem to have been affected.

What you need to do is go into your Users->Home folder->Library->and pull your Mail folder onto your desktop. Then go into your Preferences folder which is right there as well and pull out your com.apple.mail.plist file and trash it.

Then open Mail. When it asks you to import your mail boxes, point it to the folder on your desktop (Users->Home->Desktop). The whole folder, not a specific mail file.

Besides having to reset your prefs, your crashing problems will be gone......
