I am pretty sure I understand that if I want OS X on this Mac that I have to partition the hard drive and that the first partition must be 8 gigs or less and that the OS X installation must go on that first partition.
My question is if this limit is due to something on the motherboard or something on the bus.
Specifically, can I get around this limit if I install OS X on a big SCSI drive? Can i get around this limit if I install it instead on an IDE drive (which on this machine would mean swapping out the IDE CD drive which cannot accept a slave).
I have both Jaguar and Panther but am trying to tread water where hardware is concerned until summer.
