Jim --- end of quote --- OK. This was a 30 gig drive on the motherboard bus of my Beige MT (rev 1 board rev 3 rom.) I formatted the drive using Disk Utility in 10.2.8. I did not partition it. I chose to include the os 9 drivers. Then I tried to install 10.3.0 using XPostFacto. The installer said it couldn't install since it needed to install in the first 8 gigs. That's it. So I had to install on anther drive that the machine thinks is scsi so the 8 gig limit didn't apply. I'm probably better off using one of my faster pci mounted drives for Panther anyway, but I still don't know why the installer didn't think it had those first 8 gigs.
