Burn the purchased music to cd, and reimport as mp3. Or do it your way....can't speak for wiretap...ain't used it. The loss in quality going the burning route is unheard to my ears...Live sound for 10 means I hear stuff. (no, not ringing!)

So, mention a week or so of WireTap, the util from Ambrosia software (I think it was) that would take any sound out and make it an mp3.

Is that a nice way to take purchased music from iTunes Store and move it to mp3 format?

I've been putting off looking at/purchasing anything from iTunes storefront, especially as I am not going to be buying an iPod anytime soon...

but several things made me think about looking at what they have:

- the Wiretap util mentioned here
- the rumor last week that all the Grateful Dead live concert sets are being digitized for iTunes store :)

would/could/does it sound OK to move from .aac to mp3 this way ? (it was my understanding that purchased tracks were locked and not convertable, but grabbing the sound out would be a workaround...)

I'd like to buy a few things but want to play it on something portable.

Thanks,

Brian
