I got my beige G3 PowerMac minitower open (thanks to those here who
helped) in order to install more RAM. But that hasn't gone smoothly.

The new RAM I was installing didn't snap in as easily as the one already
in there. The clips on one side would snap in fine, but the clips on the
other would snap in and feel like the RAM was set, but the clip wasn't
quite as vertical as the one already there. When I powered up various
things would happen.

1) It would start up fine, but no new RAM was counted, just the
original.

2) I would hear the hard drive spin a bit and then stop, not powering
up. If I push on the button longer or harder I usually get to...

3) I hear the fan & hard drive spin up and keep going, but the green
light on the startup button never lights up. It just keeps going with no
reaction from the monitor.

4) Once and only once, the light went on and it sounded like the system
was loading, but the monitor never responded. The monitor seemed to be
connected just fine.

After trying many different combinations of placing the RAM in slots, I
am stuck with situation 3) never getting back to 1) again even when
using just the original RAM in the slot it was originally in.

Have I messed around too much and wrecked all the RAM now?

-Jeff
