I am receiving a AGP G4 PowerMac and need to connect a monitor. I see quite a few nice Apple branded flat panel displays that are connected by a single wire to the computer(ADC connection). Can I use this type of monitor or do I need a converter/ adaptor?

You'll need an adapter, or change the AGP video card. The AGP G4's came with a Rage video card. No ADC connector. Check out MacTracker or EveryMac.com for all the details of the AGP's, or any other Mac.
