I heartily second Bruce's recommendation of the JetDirect. I've got an
internal on my LaserJet 2200 and have worked in many an office where we used
the external boxes, and both types are fantastic products (no affilliation,
just a satisfied customer, et cetera).
One big upside that Bruce alluded to but didn't mention specifically is the
fact that if you've got a router, an ethernetted printer plugs right into it
and is accessible to any computer (Mac or otherwise) on your network. This
networking capability is why I bought the JetDirect (since the 2200 has a
usb port).
I got mine for less than fifty bucks on ebay. YMMV of course, but there are
deals out there, and I highly recommend looking into it.

Mitch.
