Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to revive a dead 233 AIO. It appears that the logic board is defective.
Can I replace the original logic board with one from a beige G3 desktop, or are they different?
All G3's use the exact same motherboard. However, the Tower uses an ATX power supply instead
of the the Apple power supply. There is a jumper on the motherboard which tells the motherboard
which type of power supply is being used. As the DeskTop model also uses the Apple power supply,
its jumper should already be set properly.
Also, if the replacement board is a Rev 1 with Rev A ROM, can I just plug in the Rev B ROM which is now on the AIO board into the Rev 1 board, or will this cause problems?
Yes, I believe the Rev B ROM can be used to upgrade Rev 1 motherboards. The only other difference
(besides the ROMs) is the ATI graphics chips. At least that is the only difference of which I know.
