Hi all,
>> best bet is to mod the dvd player if you are
technically inclined, if not try and get a player
for the mac. sorry about the bad news, hollywood has
really, really gone overboard with copy protection and
frankly hurt themselves more than they've helped. even
on a tv the macrovision causes a significant loss of
picture quality. the only other thing to check
would be the cables as a bad cable or dirty connector
can cause substantial signal problems.<<
Thanks Philip for your advice. But:
I can play the same DVD through my old 7100's AV-card
with excellent quality and through the AV-card of the
beige I get that awful picture.
I bought my Yamaha DVD-Player already modded without
copy-protection and recorded some DVDs to S-VHS with good
results.
This is absolutely crazy, that I can get perfect playback
through the old AV-card of the Nubus-Mac and the more
recent AV-card in the beige would let me down ...
I had the Pioneer DVR-107 recorder of a friend in my
beige for a while which produces a nice picture using the
hacked Apple DVD-player but I'm a real audiophile and
can't listen to those awesome soundtracks on my stereo
because the Pioneer doesn't have a digital output.
So would I have to repossess my old 7100 (which went to
my girl-friend) or could I put an Audiomedia III in the
beige to get a digital out for maximum sound from the
DVDs?
Anyone else? Clark Martin, do you have any suggestions?
TIA, Jrg.
