Find the freeware extension called Quiet Start somewhere on the Web and
download it. It sure shut up my Quicksilver 733, which used to sound like a
piano falling over every time it stared up, and would wake up the family if
they were asleep. Now the Mac starts and restarts in blissful silence. If
you can't find Quiet Start on the web easily, let me know and I'll see if I
can attach it to an e-mail and send it to you.
