Did you do a clean install after reinitializing the the disk?
Or is it a machine specific OS install disk?
Or if push comes to shove install 9.0.4 and download the 9.1, 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 updaters from the Apple site (though they are rather large).
Good Luck, Mark

Hello Everyone,
I'm unable to boot up from System 9.2 on a Beige G3/233 DT with Rev A ROMs and a rev 1 logic board.
The machine has an original Apple CD-drive, 320 MB RAM, 2 MB VRAM, and an 8 Gig Maxtor HD from a junked PC.
It works just fine with system 8.5 and 9.0.4. Techtools gives the machine and its components a clean bill of health. However, when
I insert a system 9.2 CD and try to boot up from the system 9.2 CD, it stalls shortly after starting the boot-up process. I was
able to install OS 9.2 from the CD on to the HD, but again when using the HD with OS 9.2 the machine stalled during boot up. The
symptoms are repeatable, and the sequence of events is the same in each case: first the happy Mac face appears, the 9.2 logo comes
on screen, an extension is loaded (just one), then a rotating wheel appears in the top left, the wheel suddenly stops rotating, then
disappears from the screen, a blank dialogue box appears on the screen and then the whole system freezes up. Only by switching off
and restarting can the computer be unfrozen. When going back to OS 8.5 everything works just fine. I have tried various CD & HD
drives and changed memory modules, but nothing makes a difference.
Do list members know if the Rev A ROMS are incompatible with OS 9.2? I ask as my other machine, a Beige G3/300 MT with Rev C ROMS,
works just fine with OS9.2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Akhil
