Larry, the OS 9 install CDs are machine specific. Some can be used if it's within the same "family" of machines.
1) Attempt to boot to the system CD. If it doesn't work it'll say so.
2) If you make it to the desktop, start the install. If not supported, it'll say so.
Sounds like the good ol' days of System 7... :o)
