You may need a device plugin support file which has already been
modified to allow a Samsung drive to work - there are some available here

     http://forums.xlr8yourmac.com/faq.lasso

if you click cd roms and cdr's then search the faq for a Samsung
drive support file which is similar spec to yours - then you need HexEdit
to open the file and change the drive name - scroll down to the last part
of the plugin file to find it - and change xxxx (whatever it is) to 348B.
There are many variables with this method - not least the speed
difference of the burners - but there's not much else on offer - so if
you can't get the 348B quoted speeds you may get the speed of xxxx - if
you see what I mean. Although you are changing the name you are not
changing the spec.... so if you are only able to burn at 1 x speed you
have edited a very old Samsung plugin file. What happens if you edit a
faster spec file I have no idea...
Replacing the existing Samsung plugin file with the edited file is
some sort of terminal dos command type voodoo in X - otherwise X won't
allow it - I usually replace them whilst booted in 9.2.2 - no voodoo
required.
It's exactly the same process in 9.2.2 with the authoring support
files.

     Pete
