Remember when OWC (or was it Sonnet?) was selling mislabeled fast PPC 
750s (AKA, G3s)?

The spec for industrial use is different than home use, and the vendor 
was claiming that its part, which might have been labeled 350 MHz was 
really appropriate for 400 MHz (the MHz might have been different, but 
the concept is the same).

And that is correct ... a slower part which is rated for industrial use 
(it has a much greater thermal range) does indeed have a higher speed 
rating when used within a tighter thermal range, say, in a residential 
application.

In the specific case, the manufacturer attempted to "save" its mismarked 
inventory by marking out the industrial information (MHz and temperature 
code) by rebranding with the higher speed rating.

Not a good way to win customers.
