There are two versions of the 9600 board: 1) pre-Mach5, and 2) Mach5.

If you are going to stick with the factory processor, the Mach5 350 MHz 
is the way to go (a Mach5 400 MHz processor was defined, but not 
manufactured).

If you are going to G3 or G4 the motherboard, there's probably little 
difference.

Sure, there could be hassles with the on-motherboard cache with the 
pre-Mach5 board. But, the INIT normally provided with the processor 
upgrade should address that.
