Take a close look at Seagate Barracuda ATA drives. Quiet and durable. Not
always the fastest though. And apparently no bad lemons. For speed, 8MB
cache is important for a few users. The Seagate web site is very helpful.
For pricing, check out dealmac.com (just a very satisfied user blah, blah).
As to the cache size, I was recently rereading an article that said the main apps that take advantage of a large cache are database type apps, where you are constantly rereading the same info off of the disks. Photoshop, web browsing, office suites, etc were unaffected by a large cache on the HD. Of course, YMMV.
