Here's the problem. I've replaced the stock DVD drive in my 450 G4 with a Pioneer Superdrive with no problem. I now have put the pulled DVD drive in a Firewire case and want to use it as an external DVD drive.
I just put my old DVD into an external FW case (a Sony Spressa ex CDRW case) and it works fine. System info shows it as a dvd-rom device under firewire, and it mounts CD's just fine. Off to find a DVD if anyone has one here...which no one has, so I'll drag in one from home tomorrow to test it.
