Think I may have figured out why iTunes doesn't recognize it. Went into the system profiler to have a look around, it says this drive is NOT supported for disc burning! What's up with that? I just assumed it was being as it is on yours. Any ideas?

What is the exact model number listed in System Profiler? Not all Lite-On drives are created equal...

You may have to hack some setup files, as documented at <http://www.xlr8yourmac.com> (not a whole lotta hacking, most often it's simply a matter of entering the exact model string into a single file)

Okay, this is the Lite On drive from OWC that you sent a link to the list for someone who wanted a good CDRW drive for a beige G3. The model listed in the system profiler is:

LTR-52327S
Dev. Rev. QS55

I thought being as the Yamaha CDRW was still showing up in iTunes (even though the drive has been completely removed from this system), I might need to zap the pram which I did several times. When the system came up in OS 9.2.2, I checked there and under Apple Disc burning in the system profiler it is listed as supported. Booted back into OSX and nothing had changed. Still not supported and if you go into iTunes the Yamaha drive is still listed as the burner of record. Very strange behavior.

Just a message from Doug...
