YellowDog Linux does support Mac hardware very well, but it is Red Hat Linux, along with the "preselected look and feel." I would avoid it like the plague if I were interested in exploring Linux from an ideological perspective. Probably your best source of information is the Linux PowerPC newsgroup. Which is available from your favorite news reader at <comp.os.linux.powerpc>.
