Hi List,

I thought I'd share with you all a problem that I just recently resolved (yesterday). We began having problems with scanning in Photoshop in 10.3.4 and 9.2.2. Each time we'd use our Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner connected via Firewire, it would scan about 1/3 of the page and then freeze. The only way out was to force quit Photoshop. We tried updating drivers from Epson's website and a few other things but each time, we'd get the same result. We did buy an iSight a few weeks back and also had it connected. It never occurred to me that it might be causing a problem being connected via Firewire also.
But yesterday, I thought I'd try to disconnect iSight and try scanning. It worked! No more problem. I called Apple to ask if they had any fix for this and got their standard reply "It's not our problem, call Epson."
So, I called Epson and spoke with their Mac person (he didn't know what an iSight was). He did agree that having two devices that used Twain on the Firewire but was probably the source of the problem. He suggested that I connect the scanner via USB (I didn't even realize that it had a USB port). Anyway, I plugged it into USB and it fixed the problem. iSight worked still connected via Firewire and the scanner worked via USB.
I did go to the Apple discussion board and found a few posts that talked about conflicts with iSight and various Firewire Hard Drives. I have not had any problems with that so far as I do have a LaCie Firewire Drive connected also.
Anyway, I hope that this might help somebody who is about to buy iSight or already has and is also using a Firewire Scanner.
I should say that our computers are the Quicksilver Dual 1 gig G4 with 1.5 gig RAM and a 17 inch 1 gig G4 iMac both running 10.3.4.
