Parts get separated from their original setting.
Parts are found in bunches of miscellany.
Parts get upgraded and we don't label.
For a variety of reasons, we get boxes of unidentifiable leftovers, that
might be reusable if we only could remember where they came from or in what
hardware they might have been useful.

(1) Does anyone know of a listing of Apple part numbers and the uses to
which each item was put ? This should ideally give substitutions as well as
reasons for removal from service, if that was necessary.

(2) Does anyone know of a tool or method by which memory can be tested and
identified ? Ideally, I would like to get hold of an external testbed that has
slots for all known kinds, with software that can test a SIMM, DIMM, SODIMM,
etc., and deliver a report with descriptors that are useful to anyone.

(3) Is there a discussion list for Apple printers and peripherals, or are
such things considered on-topic here ?
