George,

My iMac FlatPanel (G4/800) will not sleep if the Epson printer or DYMO label writer that are connected to it are left on. I don't turn the iMac off, but I do put it to sleep when I am finished using it. I found that if I turn the printers off, then put it to sleep, everything works fine.

It has been like this since I got the iMac, with OS 10.1, and up through Panther. I don't know if this is machine specific, or just varied with the hardware configuration. I do not have the sleep problem with my laptop (Lombard) and another Epson printer.

Drove me crazy at first. Kind of like having a child around that you had to constantly tell to go to bed.
