Hi George,
I have an eMac that dose the same thing and the apple care people worked out that it is due to some thing that is keeping the CPU active, i.e. some thing that is watching for and activity (virus checker, fax incoming etc.). I have to put the thing to sleep with the apple menu or keyboard shortcut now.
