Thanks, Pete, Since I wrote my initial question, I found out that there is a possibility that something was wrong with my ISO, since I apparently neither DLed or burned it in the ideal way.
Minutes before writing this, however, I just finished burning and verifying correctly an ISO disk image for YDL 3.0.1 whose md5sum checked out. I'll be posting later to update what happens when I boot from this new CD. (As soon as Fetch finishes the download it's working on.
